Kindly note that the HS815, HS830, HS810, and HS880 Horn Speakers are all IP65-rated, offering excellent protection against dust ingress and water spray from any direction. This makes them highly suitable for rugged outdoor environments, industrial zones, and tunnel applications where durability and weather resistance are essential.

What Is an IP Rating?

The IP (Ingress Protection) rating system is an international standard by IEC 60529 to define the level of protection electrical enclosures offer against the intrusion of solid objects (like dust) and liquids (like water). An IP rating typically consists of two digits: the first digit (ranging from 0 to 6) indicates the level of protection against solid particles, while the second digit (ranging from 0 to 9) indicates protection against moisture.

For example, an IP65-rated device is:

• (6) = completely dust-tight

• (5) = and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction

• Ideal for outdoor use, even in harsher environments like tunnels, industrial zones, or marine areas

In contrast, an IP54 rating offers:

• (5) = limited protection against dust ingress with no harmful deposits (5)

• (4) = and protection against water splashes from any direction (4)

• Suitable for semi-outdoor or indoor use in non-intensive environments

This rating system is essential in determining a product’s suitability for different environments, especially for outdoor, industrial, or wet-area installations in Amperes Public Address (PA) systems.
